About me

Hi, I’m Cassie!

The face behind Bed Bubs Sleep Consultant.

I am a mum of 2 bubs who is passionate about supporting
parents to meet their bubs sleep needs, allowing the whole
family to get as much restorative sleep as they can.
When my first bub was born, I was overwhelmed. I had spent
so much time preparing for his birth that I had no idea what to
do once he arrived. Luckily for me, he was a textbook type bub
and from around 6 weeks would typically sleep through the
night for 6-8 hour stints. Then we hit the four month regression.
My beautiful boy started to wake at least every two hours
overnight and would only contact nap throughout the day.
I was already finding life as a parent overwhelming, so the sudden lack of sleep left me feeling drained and anxious. After reading everything I could and trying to establish an age appropriate routine, my bub was still cat napping throughout the day and going to bed overtired. He was then awake multiple times overnight and waking at 5am each morning seemingly ready to start the day. Once I realised I needed some additional support, I reached out to a local sleep consultant who changed our lives for the better. After 2 weeks of support, I was able to pop my bub in his cot awake and he would self settle off to sleep both during the day and at bedtime. It was bliss!
When my second bub was born, I thought I had it all figured out!
Little did I know, my daughter had a completely different temperament type. She was a much more intense and sensitive bub who spent her first six weeks of life with an undiagnosed cow’s milk protein allergy resulting in lots of tears (from both of us!). Once I excluded all dairy from my diet, she settled slightly although she would only contact nap and cluster fed each evening until 10pm. At the time I had no idea that this is actually very normal for a newborn bub!
After attempting to sleep train my second bub with the same out of room technique I used with my first, I quickly realised that she was not responding well to this technique and needed more responsive, hands on settling. This is where my desire to learn more about supporting bub’s to learn self settling really came to light. I wanted to support my daughter to learn to settle independently although I wasn't comfortable letting her cry when she clearly needed extra support developing these skills. After using a variety of techniques to see which suited her best, she began to self settle after a few weeks of gentle sleep training and routine adjustments. Finally, our family began to meet their sleep needs once again.
My passion for supporting bub’s to learn to self settle has grown from then on in the hopes that I can support other families to meet their sleep needs through individualised sleep routines and appropriate settling techniques that take your bub's temperament type into account.
